A charity that is extremely close to many employees’ hearts…..
Swings & Smiles will be a comprehensive recreational facility in West Berkshire for all families that have special needs children so that these families can play together without the difficulties experienced in wider community settings. (www.swingsandsmiles.co.uk).
As does any project of this size, substantial funds are needed to not only open the centre, but the long term operation of it too.
The Chester Boyd sales team decided that a night of good food, a great venue, copious amounts of wine (origin unknown!), a rather mature Chief Executive for sale, and forty totally, ridiculously difficult questions could be a recipe for success in raising a significant amount of money towards a tremendous cause. Every child deserves the right to play!
A fantastic curry and dessert selection satisfied many egos, especially of those in attendance where their general knowledge failed them miserably.
The highlight of the evening was given to all from none other than Charles Boyd himself! Unfortunately on the last question Charles failed to recognise his own smile projected onto a screen 8 by 6 foot large, no less! (A senior moment he tells us….)
Staff proved themselves to be generous and forthcoming (after a little mental and physical manipulation given from the sales team), purchasing vast amounts of raffle tickets and liquor. All contributions totalled an outstanding £1300.50!!!!!
So thank you to all who participated and of course contributed to such a worthy cause. Of course we will keep everyone up to date with the progress of the centre, and please feel free to continue to donate @ www.swingsandsmiles.co.uk .
This will be an annual event just so we can give the Directors of the company an opportunity to redeem themselves (unfortunately for them cheat’s never prosper)!!!
